PROVIDE

Hunting wasn’t passed down to me through my father or a family member, but rather a visceral pull had me out in the marshes of Washington state in the pouring rain all by myself, figuring out the ropes through trial and error in my early 20’s.

I wasn’t sure why at the time I had been called to this ancient and sacred practice. And ultimately as I ventured further and further along my spiritual journey, I even swore it off completely at one point, taking up a vegetarian lifestyle, and accepting that it may not be apart of my path to participate in such a practice any longer.

As many things in life though, I have now come full circle, revisiting and relating with this tradition from a completely different perspective and awareness.

Honoring this rite of passage with reverence and ritual. Connecting deeply to the mother, and being a part of every piece of the intimate process of life, death, and the energetic transfer of energy from one source to another.

Treating every part of the hunt with pure presence, awareness, and honor, and being in right relationship with nature and God.

As a man, it also feels like a reclamation. A reclamation of ancestral roots, and the deep primal masculine nature within to be able to bring provision to oneself, one’s household, and for those in your community.

Hunting has now become a deeply spiritual experience. Approached with the utmost respect and reverence.
